Spring has sprung!

31/03/2012

The Easter holidays are here! All of my Dynamic classes are now on holiday for two whole weeks although I’ll still be busy with lots of different classes and creating our summer show ‘We are the champions’ which we are holding at Kingston Grammar School Performing Arts centre on Sunday 1st July in their fantastic new Theatre. We’re having two performances and it’s going to be great, but there is lots of hard work ahead over the next few months for the Dancers and me.
I’m holding some street dance camps over the next couple of weeks at Eddie Catz Wimbledon and Putney for ages 5-10 years. These are a great way to keep your children active and entertained over the holidays. You can book at www.eddiecatz.com
I’m also holding a FREE taster at New Chiswick pools on Tuesday 10th April from 2-3pm for children aged 4-10 years. This is a new class and I have limited spaces for the free taster so book in with me as soon as possible!
I’m back working with my ASAD students on new Jazz and tap routines for this term already where the students  are so focused and extremely talented. Tap is great and takes me right back to my dancing roots. I really want to teach more of it so watch this space...

Have a wonderful week; I hope the sun keeps shining for you all.

Inspiration..

22/03/2012
Easter is almost here! It’s coming up to the end of term although preparation is already well underway for our summer show which we will be having at Kingston Grammar School Performing Arts centre which has a brand new Theatre.  We’ll perform the show twice with pupils taking part from my Sutton, Fulham, Kingston and Chiswick classes from as young as 3 up to 18. It’s going to be bigger and better than the last one, I’m so excited!
I love the new Chris Brown video for ‘Turn up the music’ His dancing is amazing, I love the choreography and he really has developed his own signature style. Despite any controversy surrounding him as an artist there is no doubt that he is a great talent. I’m also so excited for the release of Madonna’s album MDNA next week. I am huge fan and can’t wait to hear it. Music is a big part of my work and I’ll be taking inspiration musically and choreographically from both artists in my projects over the coming months.
Finally I’ll be squeezing in some hot Bikram yoga between parties and classes over the next few days. After a break from this it’s so good to be back and feeling the heat on my aching body giving it a good stretch out. There is nothing better to take care of my body and focus me mentally. Give it a try!

Have a great week.

Chiswick Dance Class

11/03/2012
I’m really excited that my Chiswick classes re-open tomorrow! Due to venue problems they have been on hold but will back up and running tomorrow at the New Chiswick pools in their recently refurbished studio! I can’t wait to meet all of the new children who are coming along and get teaching them some great routines. We are also going to have classes running from the brand new leisure centre at Clapham common from next term which is really exciting.
My students at ASAD performed brilliantly in their dance assessments this week. Some have dance experience whilst others have never danced before but the standard overall was excellent. Their dedication and focus is really inspiring and I very much enjoy teaching the students there. We had a whole musical theme with numbers from Singin in the rain, Saturday night fever, Footloose and Fame! It was great fun.
I was delighted that Prodigig won Got To Dance last Sunday night. They are a phenomenal Irish dance group and their skill, performance ability and class ensured they shone in the final. I loved the modern twist on Irish dance and how tight they were as a group. I’m sure they have an exciting future.
Have a great week and if you managed to make it along to the ‘move it’ exhibition this weekend I hope you had fun! I’ll be there next year for sure.

Summer Dance Events

I can’t believe it’s March already! Summer is on the way which is a mega busy time for us. We have our big summer show which we will hopefully perform over two nights as well as performing at other summer events including the fantastic Parsons Green fete in July. The theme of our summer show is the Olympics although there will be a very modern take on this. Think basketballs, cheerleading, long jump...! Summer is also a busy time with our dance parties as everyone seems keen to celebrate during the summer months for birthdays, weddings, first holy communions or just summer parties. You can have one of our fantastic dance parties with a great choreographer and entertainer. Themes for my parties next weekend are Glee and pop dance...planning my costumes already!
Tonight is the final of got to dance! I can’t wait. My money is on one of the street dance groups to win although sweet surprise is a favourite of mine along with fear of the unknown. Plus diversity are performing.  Good luck to all of the finalists.
Have a fabulous week everyone
