The last five weeks have been completely manic preparing for our show 'Dance into the Light' which takes place this Saturday 16th March at the Secombe Theatre Sutton and celebrates five years of Dynamic Dance. We are so excited and the children and I have worked really hard to create a show which reflects the talents of our pupils based on modern dance styles which is what we specialise in at Dynamic Dance.
Training a group of 50 young people for a performance is tough. I want it to be an enjoyable experience completely including classes and rehearsals but in order for the show to be of a good standard and for each pupil to be their personal best comes a level of discipline, something which I struggle with at times. My concept at Dynamic was always to be positive and encouraging to each pupil and it is finding the exact balance of pushing pupils in a comfortable way. I'm sure lots of teachers and choreographers feel this way but we can only do the best we know and what works to achieve the end result we want.
I am dedicating this show to my Father who Sadly passed away in April last year and feel sad that he is not here to see the show. My parents were always completely supportive and I have them to thank for putting me through dance school and my professional training when I know it was not always easy for them. I feel truly blessed to have a job which I continue to enjoy and feel passionate about. After Dance into the Light I plan to look at ways to expand my business and grow as choreographer and teacher. It is always my aim to keep improving.
The next few days will be manic but I will find time to have a couple of stress releasing workouts and if course find the perfect dress so I can look my best on Saturday!
I look forward to seeing lots of you there.
