Happy Christmas!

Christmas is just a week away and we are officially on holiday at Dynamic with all classes on hold until January.

We've had a great 2013 with two big shows; 'Dance into the Light' and 'Let The Groove Get In' plus our summer school 'Hot Right Now' creating excellent performing opportunities for all of our students. We've also had a year filled with Dynamic Dance parties and events including our including our Easter event at the Horniman museum. Throughout the year I've been lucky enough to teach at some wonderful schools and nurseries as well as the prestigious ASAD drama school, St Mary's University Twickenham and Pineapple dance studios.  Another year doing of what I love has enabled me to grow creatively and professionally and I'm thankful for the support and opportunities given to me.

I'm looking forward to a great Christmas up North with my family and spending New year in London to see in what I plan to be an absolutely fabulous 2014!

Over the next 12 days I will be posting highlights of 2013 on the Facebook page so check it out. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dynamic-Dance/134808139881971

Wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas!

Festive fun

It's coming towards the end of term but not before a manic couple of weeks including auditions, rehearsals, parties, BeatBox and classes.

Last weekend I managed to squeeze in a cheeky trip to Hamburg to visit friends and they really do know how to do Christmas there! It was beautiful city and lovely to have a break for the weekend.

We have had auditions and cast all of the extra parts for our upcoming February show so we are on track and start rehearsals this weekend at Dance Attic in Fulham. It's great to have this project running into the New year. Information on tickets will be available soon at www.suttontheatres.com It will be amazing and we are working very hard on the choreography, script and costumes.

The new year sees a few changes for me and Dynamic Dance with new locations and new branding! I'm also planning to progress professionally with choreography and looking forward to some new opportunities in 2014.

Enjoy the build up to the festive season everyone; bring on the Ice skating, winter wonderland and mulled wine!

Love and light

I'm preparing for our upcoming show 'We've Got Talent' for which I've wrote a script based on A TV talent show. there is lots of solo parts up for grabs including singers, comedy acts, musicians, gymnasts, ballerinas and crew so my Dynamo's will be coming along to audition for me and the panel in a few weeks time then rehearsals will be running up until the performance which is on Saturday 8th February 2014 at the Secombe Theatre Sutton. It's going to be amazing and our most versatile show to date. We have already made great progress on routines in class with my favourites so far to GaGa and One Direction.

This weeks blog is dedicated to my lovely friend Hannah who always inspires me. I miss you every day lovely girl...

I enjoyed a rare weekend off and spent it training and chilling which is always good for the soul :)

Next month I begin a new contract at St Mary's University College Twickenham teaching dance to their students and coaching them in how to structure and deliver dance classes as part of the training. The facilities at St Mary's are excellent and in July 2012 it was used as a pre-games training ground for the 2012 Olympics. I'll be preparing for this over the next couple of weeks; it's a great new opportunity for me and I'm really excited to start. Coincidentally St Mary's was also the name of my primary School! http://www.smuc.ac.uk

Halloween is coming and I absolutely love it! We have Halloween dress up week next week in all of our classes and I have bags of treats to dish out to all of the children in class where we'll also play lots of fun Halloween games. Our Halloween Mayhem workshops are also filling up so book soon if you'd like your child to enjoy a morning of Halloween dance fun at Eddie Catz Wimbledon, Putney or in Kingston. Contact me emily@dynamicdance.org.uk to book for Kingston and book for Wimbledon and Putney at www.eddiectaz.co.uk

I'm also hosting a Halloween 'Monsters Ball' for over 21's with Isha in Kingston on Friday 1st November 9pm-2am where everyone can come in their Halloween costumes and have a real party! Come and join me, it'll be an awesome night and I'll definitely be leading Thriller....

Work is underway for our big show 'We've got Talent!' and with auditions and rehearsals in place team Dynamic have a very busy few months ahead. As always this is a great performance opportunity for all of our students and my passion is in choreography and creating large scale productions like this. Tickets for the show which takes place on Saturday 8th February 2014 will be on sale from December at www.suttontheatres.co.uk

I'm feeling truly blessed right now to continue to do the thing I love and feel passionate about.

X Factor

This week I celebrated my birthday. Once the initial panic of being another year older had passed I was able to enjoy time with my Mother who was visiting and will be celebrating with friends tonight at the Rock N Rose in Richmond with some fabulous food and cocktails and of course dancing the night away somewhere! I plan to make this year a great one and I will follow my dreams and ambitions to grow my business and open Dynamic studios...watch this space.

How about this heatwave?! Absolutely took us by surprise but has been really glorious so lets hope it lasts all summer long.

I took along three of my girls to watch the X factor live auditions on Wednesday at Wembley arena. We got to see some great acts and the judges; Nicole looked amazing and Gary is still and absolute dreamboat. We had fun and it was nice way to bid farewell to my girls who have been with us from the beginning and have been so much more than students to me. Laura, Georgina and Libby we will all miss you!

My summer holiday timetable started this week with work on Y-English programme at Sutton High teaching international students street and Musical Theatre which is going well. Our Hot Right Now summer Schools take place the week of 29th July in Sutton at Greenshaw High School and 5th August in Kingston at Tiffin girls school. We have an awesome week planned and it's not too late to book. Just contact me emily@dynamicdance.org.uk

I'm very excited about the new term and already taking class bookings for our branches in Sutton, Kingston and Clapham. We will also be launching in Twickenham in September and opening our Ballet School so I will keep you posted.

Enjoy the weekend everyone and stay chilled.

Hot Right Now!!!

Summer is finally here!

I'm so happy and feel already it's shaping up to be  great one. Last Sunday we enjoyed our Summer extravaganza at Tiffin girls In Kingston with a superb performance from team dynamic 'Let the Groove Get In' which was stripped back yet showcased the talent that we have at Dynamic dance and allowed the children to shine. It was a super hot day and everyone enjoyed the fun day whilst we prepared for the performance. All went very smoothly, and I was really proud of all of the children. I also had an excellent team on board helping to run things with special thanks to Aunty M's cakes, Mister Bouncy, Will Street music as well as Tiffin Girls for having us there.

I have several projects running over the Summer including the international Summer school at Sutton High where I'll be teaching dance to the spanish students and my own Hot Right Now Summer Schools in Sutton and Kingston. The one week course takes place at Greenshaw High in Sutton 29th July- 2nd August and at Tiffin girls Kingston 5th-9th August. Students will be taught street, jazz, break dance and contemporary styles over the five days from fantastic, experienced teachers with a spectacular performance at the end of the week for family and friends to enjoy.
Price is £110/ £120 per child for the week contact emily@dynamicdance.org.uk to book

Finally I'm delighted that I will be taking on a new role at St Mary's University College Twickenham as their Dance teacher from September. This is a superb college with excellent facilities and I'm really looking forward to working with the students

I am back on my running feet as I've  recovered from my recent injuries. Currently I'm sticking to the treadmill but Richmond park beckons...

Continue to enjoy your summer and don't forget to

keep your children moving through the holidays.

Happy Fathers Day

I hope you've all had a good week.

As I reported last week I've injured my feet and unfortunately they are not recovered yet which has been difficult but I have managed to work around this without cancelling too many classes. The injury has been painful and frustrating but led me to see a physio who discovered an underlying issue with my feet that has been ongoing and I now have the opportunity to rectify this.

Surprisingly I have coped well taking it easy in class not applying any high impact to my feet and allowing my students to do all of the work. I've had some assistance throughout the week and also have utilised the time I would usually spend training working on other things. Although I'd prefer to be at full fitness my injury has allowed me to reasses a few things so there has definitely been a positive outcome plus I've squeezed in a couple of upper body workouts focusing on core and arms!

This week was the last week at ASAD and we had dance assessments which went really well so thanks to all of my students for their hard work over the last term.

There are just two weeks left until our summer Extravaganza and preparation for the performance is going brilliantly. Tickets are live at www.dynamicdance.org.uk

Have great weekend everyone and wishing all of the Dad's out there a very Happy Fathers Day for Sunday.

summer time

Summer is here and we have enjoyed some beautiful weather this last week. I took the opportunity to get off the treadmill and run outside instead around Richmond park which has sadly left both of my feet with soft tissue damage.

The impact of running outside for so long when I am not used to such great distance on hard ground has been too much for my little size three feet! I have been in quite a lot of pain and accepted that I really have to take it easy this week. Fortunately lots of my students are advanced enough to take instruction from me which means I'm able to teach and take it easy on my feet. It will be a challenge as being active is so natural to me, I'm barely still for a minute but I will be disciplined and give myself the best possible chance of a quick recovery. Regarding the running I will not be deterred it will just mean a slower build to long distances and some more supportive running shoes!

Our summer extravaganza is just three weeks away now so preparation is in full swing! We have some great stalls planned for the day including Aunty M's cake, an amazing face painter, a raffle with some excellent prizes plus the bouncy castle, drinks stall and fabulous food. We then have the performance from team Dynamic which is going to be wonderful. Highlights will be a beautiful solo performance to Spectrum by Florence and the Justin Timberlake mash up which is my favourite. Tickets are live now at www.dynamicdance.org.uk £10 for adults and £5 for children include entry to the event and the performance.

Places are booking up for our Hot Right Now! summer School at Tiffin Girls in Kingston 5th-9th August! Contact me for more info and to book a place but this will be a really great week and is open to everyone aged 4-16 years £120 for the week.

I will be the red carpet host on Saturday evening for annual summer ball at Holy Cross Prep School Kingston which I'm really looking forward to. Ball gown and mic at the ready!

Enjoy your week everyone.

Back to class!

Hi everyone,

Half term is over and it's back to class from tomorrow. All of our regular classes are back this week as well as my schools, college, nurseries and parties so it's all systems go!

Yesterday I went to watch a production of Annie Jr at the Hampton hill playhouse which some of my pupils were performing in. It was great; a very professional production in a wonderful theatre with some superb talent. Miss Hanigan was a real force on stage and also my girls Phoebe and Maddie who played orphans Roxie and Kate were just wonderful, I was so proud. I can't describe how wonderful Sandy the dog was, simply adorable! It was a great opportunity for the girls and we look forward to working with Act Now Entertainment more in the future.

We will be preparing for our summer event and show 'Let the Groove Get In' which we are holding at Tiffin Girls School, Kingston on Sunday 30th June. Music editing, final choreography, solo routines and planning for the event will kick in this week. I really enjoy staging the shows and bringing together events which provides a goal for the children and another great performance opportunity which allows then to develop as performers and grow in confidence. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the fun between 1-5pm with booking info at www.dynamicdance.org.uk

Also don't forget we are now taking bookings for our Hot Right Now! Summer schools in Kingston and Sutton; a great dance experience for all children during the holiday's.

Have  a super week everyone

Hot Right Now!

Hey everyone,

I hope you've all had a wonderful bank holiday weekend and are looking forward to the half term this week.

Most of my regular classes are on holiday this weekend giving me time to do all of the other stuff I need to at Dynamic HQ including preperation for our summer event and performance and our Hot Right Now Summer Schools! I'm very excited that we are holding a summer school at Tiffin girls form 29th July-2nd August for ages 4-16 years. This will be a fun but incredibly professional week of fun dance training with a performance at the end of the week for family and friends to enjoy. The summer School is 10am-4pm each day and my team and I will work with the groups teaching them jazz, street, break dance and contemporary styles working on technique and performance skills as well as general co-ordination, flexibility, social interaction, confidence and most of all making it a really fun experience. The price is £120 per child for the five day course and spaces are already booking up so contact me for more info and to book a place emily@dynamicdance.org.uk The Sutton date and venue is still to be confirmed.

I'm very much looking forward to working with the Spanish students who are taking part in the Performance Programme this summer at Sutton High where I will be working with the team to teach them some Musical Theatre numbers over three weeks and providing a performance at the end. I had better brush up on my Spanish just in case!

Enjoy your week everyone and wishing all of my girls who are performing in Annie this week at the Hampton Hill playhouse the very best of luck.

Shoot!

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all enjoying the lovely summer weather and looking forward to a long weekend. I am so excited as I have the whole weekend free! I have pampered myself in preparation and will be making the most of it by spending time with friends and my other favourite pass times including training and shopping!

We recently had a photo shoot at Canbury studios in Kingston with Helen Maroudias. The Dynamic Dance website and marketing is being revamped and we had  a really great shoot with some of my students capturing class and party themed shots to reflect what we offer at Dynamic Dance. The children all loved it and Helen was fantastic at bringing out the best in everyone resulting in some fantastic images. I then had a shoot myself where we took some head shots and movement images. I'm really pleased with the results and you will see them soon but here is a little preview! For more info go to www.canburystudio.co.uk

It's time to get busy planning our summer events and summer Schools so more of that soon! Life is good and I'm really feeling positive thanks to sticking to my healthy body- healthy mind theory. Exercise and a healthy diet has given me greater energy and a leaner look which I am delighted with.

Viva forever

How was the first week of term for you all? Mine was hectic but great!

All classes kicked off again this week and it has certainly been all go at Dynamic HQ with registrations, enquiries, party bookings, new choreography, merchandise ordering and plan for the site update. Running a business is non stop but so long as you enjoy what is at the heart of it that keeps you driven.

My friend Steve took me to see Viva Forever on Wednesday evening and I absolutely loved it. This is  a modern, easy to watch, humorous musical with stunning acting, singing and choreography. I have met Lynne Page who choreographed Viva Forever several times in the past and her choreography is always wonderful. I really admired her work on this show; there was  a flavour of spice girls in there with a a mish mash of different styles. I felt inspired and happy after watching this show, a must see for any spice girls fans!

This weekend is busy with taster workshops tomorrow at Putney leisure centres before our launch on Tuesday, birthday parties and a photo shoot on Sunday for me and some of my pupils. We are having it done at Canbury studios in Kingston with Helen and Nick who are excellent photographers. Look out for the new shots which will be splashed all over the site, Fb, blog and new marketing material.

I'm off to bed so I can be up early to squeeze in a workout. My fitness regime is going well, time to up the ante!

Enjoy your weekend

New term!

The Easter holiday's are coming to an end and I'm really looking forward to the new term!

All of my classes are back from Monday. We have classes running for children aged 4 years and over at Clapham, Kingston and Sutton and will be launching NEW classes at Putney Leisure Centre. Contact us to book in for a free trial for any of these locations. Dynamic dance classes are suitable for children of all levels where we encourage each child for each their full potential and keep classes structured yet fun whilst building confidence through performance.
http://www.dynamicdance.org.uk/classes.html

Children's Dance Classes in London

I'm looking forward to starting work at Stars nursery this week teaching dance to the little ones at their Kingston and Worcester park centres! I absolutely love working with pre-School children; Dance is a great way to stimulate and keep children active from young age.

My major health kick has left my body a little battered but I already feel in much better shape. My fitness level is the best it has probably ever been and I'm now 32! I think as you get older you have greater understanding of your body and what it takes to be in peak condition and this really does overlap into my own technical ability as a dancer. I enjoyed taking a couple of classes at Pineapple studios earlier this week. It's never too late as a dancer to learn new styles and of course to stay fresh of ideas and inspired.

I'm off to do some choreography for the new term; Justin Timberlake will definitely feature in there somewhere and maybe even a little bit of Ant and Dec for the little ones-Lets get ready to rumble!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Dance in the rain

I hope you've all enjoyed the beautiful weekend! Spring has definitely arrived for me and I am feeling very positive and looking forward to the summer term.

This week I have stepped up my fitness regime as I have been lucky enough to have some time off so I've been hitting the gym at Virgin Active Kingston and back in the hot room at Bikram Yoga Surbiton. My thighs in particular are aching but I already feel great and plan to be in tip top shape in a couple of months. For me a healthy body-healthy mind. There is no better therapy than exercise, I really do feel amazing afterwards. The gym gives me a great buzz and makes me feel full of energy, and Bikram gives an amazing stretch out and focuses and calms me as well as making my skin look really fresh. I plan to start my outdoor runs this week as well boxing training next week. There are so many choices for exercise now with lots of new classes such as Tac Fit and booty Barre! It's about finding what works for you. Whatever challenges I'm facing I find positivity and exercise is the key. 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'

My new term at ASAD started last week so I'm working on new choreography already. The students are very focused and it's great to be back in the studio with them teaching Jazz and tap. We have the Eddie Catz Got To Dance camps this week which look to be super busy! There are a few spaces left so if you want your child to come along book at http://www.eddiecatz.com/workshop-detail.php?e_id=327

Enjoy the rest of the Easter holidays and for information on classes and parties check out our website www.dynamicdance.org.uk or contact me emily@dynmaicdance.org.uk

Happy Easter

I hope you've all had a great Easter and enjoyed the long weekend.

The cold weather certainly didn't deter spirits at the Horniman museum over the weekend where we had great crowds joining us for our fun dance sessions and Easter bunny hop! Rebecca and I had a great time and we were really well looked after by everyone there.

There are many activities available to keep your children active during the Easter break and we have some spaces left on our Got To Dance camp next week at Eddie Catz Putney where children will learn some great routines and take part in a mini performance. I always enjoy running these camps and expect them to be really busy so don't miss out! Book your Child's space at www.eddiecatz.co.uk

I was lucky enough to be taken by some friends to see Burn the Floor last night at the Shaftesbury              Theatre in London which is a ballroom and latin dance show featuring a few of the strictly stars a  including Kristina Rihanoff and Karen Hauer and it was absolutely stunning!
The choreography, costumes, and performance was amazing and the stamina, technique and ability of each dancer was really world class and very inspiring. If you get the chance, go and see it. www.burnthefloor.com

I finally have a few days off so will be enjoying a well earned rest. I'm certain spring is just around the corner.

Have a great week

Dance into the Light

The last five weeks have been completely manic preparing for our show 'Dance into the Light' which takes place this Saturday 16th March at the Secombe Theatre Sutton and celebrates five years of Dynamic Dance. We are so excited and the children and I have worked really hard to create a show which reflects the talents of our pupils based on modern dance styles which is what we specialise in at Dynamic Dance.

Training a group of 50 young people for a performance is tough. I want it to be an enjoyable experience completely including classes and rehearsals but in order  for the show to be of a good standard and for each pupil to be their personal best comes a level of discipline, something which I struggle with at times. My concept at Dynamic was always to be positive and encouraging to each pupil and it is finding the exact balance of pushing pupils in a comfortable way. I'm sure lots of teachers and choreographers feel this way but we can only do the best we know and what works to achieve the end result we want.

I am dedicating this show to my Father who Sadly passed away in April last year and feel sad that he is not here to see the show. My parents were always completely supportive and I have them to thank for putting me through dance school and my professional training when I know it was not always easy for them. I feel truly blessed to have a job which I continue to enjoy and feel passionate about. After Dance into the Light I plan to look at ways to expand my business and grow as choreographer and teacher. It is always my aim to keep improving.

The next few days will be manic but I will find time to have a couple of stress releasing workouts and if course find the perfect dress so I can look my best on Saturday!

I look forward to seeing lots of you there.

Got To Dance at half term!

This week is half term and there is a definite feel of spring in the air!

I hope you're all having a great week and have found lots of fun things to do with your children. My 'Got to Dance' camp at Eddie Catz Putney on Friday afternoon is the perfect way to end the week. This is suitable for ages 5-10 years and will include learning some great moves and preparing a mini performance for the parents. There is just a few spaces left and you can book at www.eddiecatz.co.uk
The cost is £20 per child and this includes a light tea and a free play at Eddie Catz.

All of my regular classes have been running this week as we are in full swing preparing for our show 'Dance Into the Light'. Rehearsals are going well and tickets are on sale at www.suttontheatres.co.uk
We are celebrating five years of Dynamic Dance with this big performance and will present a diverse range of styles reflecting what we do at Dynamic Dance which is ultimately to bring out the best in children and young people and build their confidence through performance of modern dance. We are very excited but there is still a lot of work to be done!

Following a back sprain last week I'm gently getting back into training with some light workouts and also giving pilates a try which builds great strength particularly in the core. Having a week off reminded me not to take being fit and healthy for granted and that we should really cherish and take care of our bodies. With summer not far away it's inspiration for me to rip up!

Enjoy the rest of your week

Into the light.....

Hi everyone!

I hope January is shaping up well for you and you are back in the swing of things.

It's full steam ahead at Dynamic Dance with all classes back and preparation underway for our big five year anniversary show on 16th March! It is titled 'Dance Into The Light' and will take place at the Secombe theatre in Sutton and is going to feature children from all of my classes in Clapham, Fulham, Kingston and Sutton aged 3-18 years. It will be a big celebration for us and we are all really excited already.

I opened my first branch of Dynamic Dance in March 2008 at the then Cannons Gym in Sutton. I had just one child, Mia, in my first class! I have since grown a whole business with a lot of help and loyal support from people. We now have branches of Dynamic Dance in four locations as well as providing dance teaching to Schools, colleges and nurseries and other organisations. We also provide dance parties at weekends all over London and Surrey. I am so proud of everything we have achieved and I'm determined to make this our biggest and best production yet! I am working hard to choreograph all of the routines and extra rehearsals will begin soon.

As well as working hard I am enjoying  a few positive changes for the New Year and have been back at my beloved Bikram Yoga as well as trying out some boxing! Both are great forms of exercise and an excellent stress reliever.

Have a great weekend and look out for more news on our March anniversary...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are feeling positive about 2013.

I love New Year; it's a great time to set out new challenges and goals and really work towards them as well as a time to embrace the feeling of a fresh page. This year I celebrated the New year with something a little different. I did a firewalk on hot coals! I've never done anything like this before and was really up for the challenge although as the day approached I did feel a little nervous. My lovely boyfriend completely supported me through it and Skie and Red who were running the evening were wonderful leaders. They made everyone completely welcome and their down to earth and encouraging attitude made it really accessible to me. I focused on what this represented to me and felt really exhilarated and proud when I did the walk not once but four times! All of the money raised from the evening went to the Sungate fund; a charity helping to provide education and health care for tribes in Peru. I felt really inspired by the whole experience and thank Skie and Red for a truly great evening.

After a nice rest over the holidays I'm excited about the new term and getting back to my passion! All classes are back from next week including my college and Schools so it's all systems go. I'm offering FREE trials to all new pupils who would like to try out Dynamic Dance in any of our four locations- Clapham, Fulham, Kingston and Sutton. I'm also taking party bookings for 2013 for birthday parties and other occasions. Contact me for more info at emily@dynamicdance.org.uk

I hope to see lots of new faces next week. Keep your children active and let them be part of something special.

Whatever your New Year resolutions are I wish you every success with it! Remember you Can do anything you want to.
