Super summer

We are so incredibly lucky to have enjoyed such beautiful weather over the last couple of weeks! Just in time for the school holidays and the Olympics kicking off, it has been really great and you've probably all felt the electric vibe in London.

I was blown away by the incredible opening ceremony that England presented on Friday evening directed by Danny Boyle. My favourite parts were the simply stunning Dance piece by Akram Khan and the new age techno section with some very talented young performers. Some English history and of course the respects paid to those who lost their lives in the July 2005 bombings made it compassionate and respectful as well as truly entertaining. We loved it and I felt completely inspired and proud to be British.

My summer school, Dancetastic at Sutton High started today and we had Great fun with our street dance theme. Tomorrow is tap then we have ballet, contemporary and commercial jazz before our show on Friday. On Wednesday We will be providing entertainment at the Horniman museum with some great dance Workshops so if you're looking for a great day out come along and join us from 2pm. I will also be entertaining at Sainsburys Balham for their fundraiser on Saturday afternoon from 12-1pm so come along and support the community and join me for some dancing and games.

The will be more news on my extended Dancetatsic summer Schools during August soon. It's turning out to be a busy summer but that's the way I like it. I've had a chance to recharge my batteries and it's great to be back in the studio.

Enjoy the great atmosphere of our super British summer! And if you have any Olympics tickets going spare.....

Summer holidays

The summer holidays are finally here with most of the Schools breaking up this week! All of  my regular classes are finished for the term and what a great term it has been for me and all of my students.
I’ve had a great School year with Dynamic dance and my college students. We’ve had two amazing shows; Bright lights and We Are The Champions, a successful Danceathon in November raising money for children in Need, a great performance at Parsons Green and lots of great classes. Each of my pupils has grown in ability and confidence and it’s amazing to see. I’m sure all of the children are looking forward to a well deserved break over the summer. I’m really hoping we have some good weather over the holidays so that we can all enjoy everything London has to offer and of course for the Olympics!
If you’re looking for summer events over the summer Dynamic dance kicks off with Dancetastic summer School from 30th July-3rd August at Sutton High School for ages 5-14 years which is going to be fab. My team and I have a great week of dance planned and it’s not too late to book. I’ll also be running summer dance camps with my great friends at Eddie Catz Putney and Wimbledon during August. I have some weekly classes for 3-5 years running in Sutton and Kingston for all the Dynamic tots out there! And finally I will be running a Dance event at the Horniman museum on 1st August which will be a great day out.
As for me when I’m not working I’ll be relaxing in Kingston town, running by the river, hitting bikram yoga Surbiton and  taking class at Pineapple studios. I officially turn a year older tomorrow and I’m hoping the next year will bring me lots of wonderful things! If I stay fit and healthy, spend more time with my family and friends and keep on dancing I’ll be happy.
I hope to see lots of you at my summer classes.
Have a great week

Champions!!!!!!!!

We are the Champions was a huge success!!!!!!! All of the hard work was well worth it with two wonderful shows performed by my amazing dancers. Their hard work, dedication and positive spirit in the lead up to the show was inspiring and the Olympic theme went down a treat. We had  a big opening number with gymnasts, showgirls, cheerleaders and little soldiers! The routines with props including skipping ropes, ribbons and a basketball were fab and the tap solo and urban ‘Passout’ number were also big hits. I was so proud of all of the children and the medals issued in the finale were very much deserved.
This Saturday we are performing a small section of the show at Parsons Green fete in Fulham at 12.45pm. Come down and check out my little Champions.

Places are filling up for my ‘Dancetastic’ Summer School which takes place at Sutton high school from 30th July-3rd August. This is a week long dance experience based on street, jazz, tap and contemporary with  a big show at the end of the week for ages 5-14 years. It will be a fantastic week (hence the title!) Contact me to book at emily@dynamicdance.org.uk

As things are slightly calmer now I will be getting in the gym, back in the hot room and listening to the new Chris Brown album ‘Fortune’ which I’m already a massive fan of. I’m looking forward to the summer holiday's and the new term in September; I can’t wait to get cracking on some new choreography.

Have a great week
